you should keep it more simple! theres an easy way to shade boxy stuff like this!
they are faces which are directly hit by your lightsource, there are ones which for example have an angle of 50° which should be a bit darker and there are vertical ones who arent hit by light at all. just try out to match a greytone to every one of that "cases" and then just go one and repeat it by painting familiar angled faces with tha particular value.! after doing it you add final highlights!

here an veeery quick overpaint! =)

wow you really made a punchy difference! I think the way i'm painting has a lot to do with the shading that i get. I'm just bouncing between white and black on the pallette and using the pressure to get the shade. So i'm not picking any midtones or solids but damn... you made such a difference. I think i'm afraid to lay down solids and crisp lines. I'll keep playing and keep in mind what you said.

Thanks heaps man!

i had the same problem in the beginning! but greyscale is really the best way to learn here since you can darken with black and lighten up with the white as we know. its not wrong to use the pressure! but next time try to use it just to mix your desired midtone.then pick it up with the eyedropper and do solid strokes!

np at all =) my pleasure!
